Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chibi Tsushima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Beckett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chibi Tsushima is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Chibi Tsushima!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 10 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jim Beckett!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Daniel Bishop and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tsushima gets a takedown into half guard.
Tsushima wants to free his trapped foot but Beckett is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Tsushima is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Beckett has managed to free his arm - good work.
Beckett tries to roll over but Tsushima keeps him under control.
Tsushima wants to lay and pray for a moment but Beckett keeps working.
Tsushima is looking to advance position but Beckett won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Beckett has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tsushima is working away from the top position though.
Beckett is pressing down on Tsushima's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Tsushima advances to half guard.
Beckett trying to control but Tsushima postures up.
Beckett is in trouble now - Tsushima has advanced to mount!
Beckett wants to control but Tsushima is having none of it.

Tsushima looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Tsushima avoids the attempt from Beckett to control.
Tsushima has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Beckett's face.
Tsushima wants to control the pace but Beckett is squirming around nicely.

Beckett is trying desperately to improve position.
Tsushima is stalling here but it's allowed Beckett to get half guard.
Tsushima wants to pass to mount but Beckett is defending the position.

Tsushima looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Tsushima seems to be working for a kimura but Beckett defends the submission attempt.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Beckett is positioning himself well to prevent Tsushima advancing to mount.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Beckett connects with a jab.
Beckett is looking to score with low kicks.

Beckett tries to keep at a distance but Tsushima has taken the fight into the clinch.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Tsushima.
Tsushima misses with the head strike.
Tsushima struggles to land a body shot inside as Beckett controls his hands.
Beckett is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Tsushima lands with a short shot to the head.

Tsushima tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Beckett's elbow.

Tsushima has been working on his balance at Tōshi, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Beckett.

Tsushima breaks from the clinch.
Beckett connects with a leg kick. Tsushima looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Beckett swings for the body but Tsushima moves out of range.
Tsushima is looking to counter the offense by Beckett and move into the clinch.
Tsushima throws a poor cross that misses
and Beckett cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Beckett loads up on a big right hand but Tsushima slips the punch.
Beckett throws out a leg kick but Tsushima moves out of range and Beckett only half commits.
Tsushima appears to be looking for a big counter.
Beckett scores with a decent looking hook.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Beckett.
Tsushima uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Beckett.

and Tsushima counters with a nice double leg into guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Beckett holds on and takes a little breather.
Tsushima stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Beckett swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Tsushima passes Beckett's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Beckett is looking for a sweep. Tsushima is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Beckett has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tsushima is working away from the top position though.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Beckett tries to work over Tsushima's front leg with a kick but Tsushima checks it.
Tsushima ducks right into an uppercut from Beckett.

Beckett misses with a wild body shot.
Beckett fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Tsushima manages to avoid it.
Beckett throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Tsushima connects with a good right hand that stumbles Beckett. Beckett circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
A looping hook to the body misses from Beckett. Tsushima does a little dance to reset his feet.
Jim Beckett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Beckett thows a left - swing and a miss!
Beckett throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
A nice inside leg kick there by Beckett. That's going to slow Tsushima down.
Beckett misses the shot to the body.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tsushima works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Tsushima drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Tsushima goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Beckett has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Tsushima but great work by Beckett.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Chibi Tsushima will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Beckett stuns Tsushima with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Beckett misses with a jab to the body
and Tsushima counters with a one-two to the body.
Tsushima throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Tsushima ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Beckett moves away.
Tsushima shoots in and drives through. Beckett sprawls well.
Beckett stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Beckett wants it to stay on the feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tsushima takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Beckett on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Tsushima clinches up with Beckett and pushes him back against the cage.

Tsushima has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Beckett after a bit of a struggle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chibi Tsushima. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Beckett.
Beckett tries to throw a body punch but Tsushima avoids it by throwing Beckett back against the cage.

Tsushima is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Beckett can do to turn this around?

Beckett throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Tsushimas head.


It looks like Chibi Tsushima has been cut.
The referee calls for Beckett to work.
Tsushima wants a takedown.
Beckett swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Tsushima's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Tsushima keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Beckett.
Beckett walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Tsushima checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Beckett lets loose with a powerful body kick. Tsushima will feel that in the morning.
Beckett throws out a loose jab but Tsushima uses good head movement to avoid it.

Beckett throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Beckett sizes up Tsushima with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Jim Beckett seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Tsushima throws a leg kick but Beckett sees it coming and checks it nicely.

and Tsushima counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Tsushima decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chibi Tsushima.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Tsushima, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
