PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Djin Dawn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tjorben Bauwens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Djin Dawn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tjorben Bauwens!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Radbod Blank and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dawn sizes up Bauwens with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Dawn moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Bauwens goes down! Can Dawn finish him!?


Bauwens is rocked!


It looks like Tjorben Bauwens has been cut.
Dawn is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Bauwens preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Dawn will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dawn throws a big right hand that misses.
Dawn is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Bauwens looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Dawn with a flurry of punches that miss.
Bauwens tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Dawn cracks Bauwens with a solid left hand.
Dawn throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bauwens works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dawn trying to control the position from guard on top but Bauwens is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dawn postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Dawn seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Dawn misses with a straight left.
Bauwens is looking to clinch but Dawn is avoiding it.
Dawn throws an overhand right that lands on Bauwens's shoulder, as Bauwens tries to avoid the shot.
Dawn misses the shot to the body.
Bauwens scores with a nice body kick.
Dawn is looking to clinch but Bauwens is avoiding it.
Dawn throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
And Bauwens responds with a good body kick, but Dawn manages to step out the way in time.

Dawn catches Bauwens napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Bauwens to the canvas!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dawn drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bauwens manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Dawn has Bauwens in his guard.


That's two minutes gone in the round.

Dawn looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Bauwens passes into half guard.
Dawn flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Bauwens seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dawn does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Dawn wants to stand back up but Bauwens manages to pass into side control.
Dawn definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dawn is not content to let Bauwens control the position.
Dawn tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Dawn is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Bauwens asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Bauwens really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dawn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Dawn is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bauwens wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dawn keeps working.
Dawn manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Bauwens seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dawn does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Dawn gets full guard.

Dawn is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Bauwens has his hands clasped together but Dawn extends and breaks Bauwens's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Dawn.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Djin Dawn!
Our winner, Djin Dawn, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
