Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carrol Johnston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marquyse Hoffield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Carrol Johnston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marquyse Hoffield!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hoffield closes the distance and pushes Johnston back into the cage.
Johnston tries for a takedown. No joy.
Hoffield lands a hook to the side of the head.

Hoffield pulls Johnston into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hoffield trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Hoffield is adopting a defensive guard.

Hoffield pushes Johnston off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Hoffield gets a double leg takedown into Johnston's guard.
Johnston is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hoffield stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnston swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hoffield postures up in Johnston's guard and throws a big left but Johnston blocks it.
Hoffield missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Johnston is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hoffield is controlling him.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hoffield moves in looking to clinch but Johnston pushes him off.

Hoffield thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Hoffield showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Hoffield passes Johnston's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Hoffield is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Johnston could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Johnston is looking for a sweep. Hoffield is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Johnston is breathing heavily.
Hoffield content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Johnston blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hoffield.
Hoffield seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Hoffield throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hoffield in particular looking to stall.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Hoffield closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Hoffield takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Hoffield's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hoffield throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Hoffield has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Johnston keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Hoffield is controlling the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Hoffield has Johnston up against the cage in a clinch.
Hoffield wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Johnston is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Hoffield is keeping busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hoffield has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Johnston is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Hoffield is defending well for now.
Hoffield effectively controlling the action here.

Johnston is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Johnston misses with a knee to the head.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Hoffield. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Hoffield escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hoffield is looking to clinch but Johnston is avoiding it.

Hoffield drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Hoffield is trying to get an arm triangle but Johnston is defending well.
Hoffield has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hoffield trying to control the position but Johnston is working away.

Hoffield decides to stand back up. Hoffield steps back and let's Johnston get back to his feet.

Hoffield shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hoffield was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Hoffield is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Johnston is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Hoffield has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Hoffield looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hoffield content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Johnston trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Hoffield controlling his opponent.
Johnston is in all sorts of trouble here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hoffield misses with a head shot.
Hoffield controlling the pace for now.
Marquyse Hoffield has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hoffield unloads with some shots from mount but Johnston bucks and avoids them well.

Hoffield working away from the top, dropping strikes.


Johnston is rocked!
Hoffield takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Oh Johnston is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hoffield postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Johnston badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Hoffield around the waist but Hoffield pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Hoffield is the winner by TKO! Hoffield jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marquyse Hoffield!
