Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gennakin Golovdy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Golovdy has chosen A New Beginning by Audiomachine as his entrance music. Gennakin Golovdy will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gennakin Golovdy!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Anthony Taglia and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rogers lands with a hook. Golovdy tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Donk. Rogers catches Golovdy right on the button with a cross.
Golovdy tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Golovdy fails with an attempt to clinch.
Golovdy lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Rogers is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Golovdy to keep the fight standing.

Golovdy bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Rogers connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Rogers takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Golovdy throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Golovdy tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rogers swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rogers appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Golovdy feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Rogerss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

and Golovdy cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Golovdy lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Golovdy has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Rogers clobbers Golovdy with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Rogers swats away the attempt to clinch by Golovdy.
Golovdy throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rogers appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Rogers on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Golovdy lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Rogers at a distance.
Rogers closes the distance and clinches up with Golovdy, looking for a takedown. Rogers pushes Golovdy against the cage but Golovdy circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rogers tries a head kick but it misses.
Rogers has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Golovdy finds it's way round the side to connect with Rogers's head.

Golovdy pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Golovdy has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Rogers tries for a takedown but Golovdy circles away easily
and Golovdy counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gennakin Golovdy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
