Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rey Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Christos Psolas!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Vladimir Khabensky and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Psolas fails with an attempt to clinch.

and Johnson counters with a three punch combo that has Psolas backing up. Psolas nods at Johnson to acknowledge the strikes.
Psolas throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Johnson counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Johnson gets control of Psolas's arms and successfully pulls guard. Johnson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Psolas throws a combination that misses
and Johnson counters with a three punch combo that has Psolas backing up. Psolas nods at Johnson to acknowledge the strikes.
Psolas will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Johnson gets a clinch.

Johnson lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Johnson in particular looking to stall.
Psolas felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Psolas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Johnson slips a nice elbow through Psolas's hands, connecting with Psolas's forehead.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Johnson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Johnson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Johnson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Psolas is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Johnson seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Psolas can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Johnson controls the pace.

Johnson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Johnson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Psolas can do to turn this around?

Johnson has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Psolas is trying to keep an underhook but Johnson manages to get the takedown into half guard.

The referee is keeping an eye on Johnson - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Johnson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Psolas uses from the top position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Johnson is on top in guard.
