Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Leonardo Ventura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Saint John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Saint John has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Leonardo Ventura's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ventura manages to get an easy takedown there - catching John on his heels. He'll look to pass John's guard now, I'm sure.
Ventura controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Ventura pushes down on John's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Ventura is sneakily working for an arm triangle but John sees it coming and defends easily.
Well, if Ventura is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ventura prevents John from improving his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ventura controlling the pace.
Ventura could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Ventura stands up and beckons John to join him on the feet.
John tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ventura misses with an attempted mid kick.
John gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Ventura holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
John tries to pull guard but Ventura holds him up against the cage and eventually John drops back down to his feet.

Ventura tightens his grip and picks John up, before dumping him to the ground. John manages to land in guard.
Ventura pushes down on John's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Ventura stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Ventura has taken the fight to the clinch.
A short body shot lands from Ventura as the two fighters clinch.
John looks winded!

Ventura gets a trip takedown into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Ventura stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows John to get to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ventura lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Ventura loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have John scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Ventura land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Ventura stands and salutes the crowd.
