PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nate Timmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Forrest Bondurant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Timmons comes to the cage accompanied by Take Me To Church. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nate Timmons!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Forrest Bondurant!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Bondurant does it's job there.
Bondurant cracks Timmons with an open hand slap.
Bondurant keeps the fight on the outside.
Bondurant stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Bondurant shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Timmons throws a head kick but Bondurant moves out of range.

Bondurant feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Timmons keeping moving, preventing Bondurant from controlling successfully.
Bondurant seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Timmons wants to sweep here but Bondurant controlling him for the moment.
Bondurant is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Bondurant working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Timmons knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bondurant on the ground.
Bondurant is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Timmons moves forwards but Bondurant connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Bondurant fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Bondurant scores with a nice right hand.
Bondurant catches Timmons with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Bondurant throws out a powerful jab.

Timmons gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Bondurant to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Timmons is wriggling around but Bondurant manages to pass to half guard.

Bondurant content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Timmons has hold of Bondurant's hands but Bondurant slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bondurant missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Bondurant is taking a breather. Timmons says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Bondurant is keen to just control but Timmons is a slippery customer.
Bondurant trying to control the pace.

Timmons is defending against the submission attempts here by Bondurant.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Bondurant is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Bondurant is keen to just control but Timmons is a slippery customer.
Bondurant seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bondurant is trying to work for a kimura but Timmons is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Forrest Bondurant dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Bondurant connects with a jab.
Timmons takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Timmons is looking to clinch but Bondurant is avoiding it.
Bondurant bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Timmons's head backwards.
A looping hook to the body misses from Bondurant. Timmons does a little dance to reset his feet.

Timmons tries to sprawl but Bondurant drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Bondurant is trying to control. Timmons wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Timmons keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Timmons on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Timmons tries to get out of the position.
Bondurant keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Bondurant seems to be working for a kimura but Timmons defends the submission attempt.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bondurant connects with a nice short shot to Timmons's temple.
Bondurant takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Bondurant looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Bondurant not doing much here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bondurant slips a nice elbow through Timmons's hands, connecting with Timmons's forehead.

Bondurant is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Timmons defends it well.
Bondurant is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Bondurant has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Timmons is trying to maintain the position but Bondurant is very close to passing his half guard.
Bondurant slows the pace down in half guard.
Forrest Bondurant has got the better of the ground game so far.

Bondurant is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Timmons is just riding it out for now. Bondurant eventually gives up the hold.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Bondurant is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Timmons doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bondurant.
Bondurant is figuring out what he wants to do next.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Forrest Bondurant showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Timmons's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Timmons takes one to the chin there.
Forrest Bondurant seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Bondurant misses with a double jab

and Timmons counters by moving into the clinch.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Bondurant.
Timmons swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Timmons manages to break the clinch.
Bondurant scores with a decent looking hook.
Bondurant throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

so Bondurant counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Timmons is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Bondurant dives into side control.

Timmons managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Bondurant.

Timmons has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Bondurant is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Timmons knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Timmons is not content to let Bondurant control the position.

Bondurant is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Timmons is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Bondurant thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Bondurant is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Timmons knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Bondurant is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Timmons has escaped the position, nice work there.
Nate Timmons has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Bondurant working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Bondurant trying to control the action but Timmons is working from the bottom.
Forrest Bondurant is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Timmons seems a little lost for a moment, as Bondurant dominates the positioning.
Let's hope that Bondurant has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Timmons tries to improve position but can't.
Bondurant postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bondurant is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Forrest Bondurant comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Bondurant winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A relieved looking Forrest Bondurant thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
Nate Timmons spoke after the fight, saying 'Oh, what a bummer...lesson learned!but wait for the next victory, for the spoils of this defeat will be sown...'.
