PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sammy Boyd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nopparat Somchaimy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nopparat Somchaimy told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Somchaimy throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Somchaimy throws a head kick but Boyd moves out of range.

Nopparat Somchaimy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boyd connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Somchaimy's hands.
Somchaimy bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Boyd's head backwards.
Boyd uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Somchaimy.
Boyd changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Somchaimy tries to avoid it but Boyd manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Somchaimy to the ground. Somchaimy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Somchaimy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Boyd has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Somchaimy has managed to get both his arms back between Boyd's legs - danger averted.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Somchaimy working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
