Peso doesn't manage to clinch there - Gouveia circles away.

and Gouveia counters with a shoot takedown. Peso fights it but they end up in guard.
Gouveia is pushing down on Peso's leg trying to pass to half guard. Peso is fighting to maintain full guard but Gouveia has managed to sneak the leg through.
Peso wants to control but Gouveia is keeping busy.

Gouveia wants to work for an arm triangle but Peso is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Gouveia has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gouveia throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Peso was covering up waiting for the punch and Gouveia finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Peso tries to kick Gouveia off but Gouveia keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Peso steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Gouveia is out on his feet! Peso sets himself and nearly takes Gouveia's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
