The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Russell Pearce and Dean Styles.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza scores with a hook.
Souza keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Andre Souza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Souza steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Ramos .
A left lands for Ramos .
Souza shoots in and drives through. Ramos sprawls well.
Ramos appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Souza stuffs the takedown attempt from Ramos . Ramos gets slowly back to his feet.

Souza throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ramos was covering up waiting for the punch and Souza finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ramos manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Souza manages to get himself to full guard.

Souza is looking for a triangle here but Ramos uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Souza tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ramos wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Ramos looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Souza with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
