PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dash Reveal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spear Block (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Spear Block is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dash Reveal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Spear Block !
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Block fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Block fails with a takedown attempt.
Reveal throws a right hand that Block ducks under and follows up with a left that Block also avoids with ease.

Reveal closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Block quickly recovers to half guard.
Reveal throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Reveal wants to take a breather but Block is having none of it.
Block is trying to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reveal is working for a submission of some sort.
Reveal wants to lay and pray for a moment but Block keeps working.

Reveal not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Block is not content to let Reveal control the position.
Block regains full guard. Nicely done.
Reveal is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Reveal has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Reveal trying to control the position from guard on top but Block is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Block wants to stand but Reveal is controlling the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Reveal missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Reveal shoots in looking for a takedown but Block manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Reveal's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Reveal darts in and clinches Block up against the cage.
Block has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Reveal avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Dash Reveal has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Spear Block .

Reveal wants a takedown.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Block .
Block has Reveal pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Reveal manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Reveal wants to take the fight to the mat but Block manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Reveal tries to pull guard but Block won't allow it.
Reveal tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Reveal lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Reveal jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Block walks away with a smile on his face. Reveal gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Block fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Reveal on the side of the head.
Block shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Reveal counters with a nice double leg into side control. Block won't be happy with that.
Reveal is breathing heavily.
Reveal wants to control but Block is keeping him busy.
Block is looking for a sweep.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Block 's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Block tries to bench press Reveal off him but Reveal keeps the position.
Block struggling a bit here.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Block keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Block has a takedown stuffed.
No luck for Block with that takedown attempt.
Reveal fails with the takedown.
Reveal is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Block can do to turn this around?
Block tries to land a leg kick but Reveal saw it coming and moves away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Block is defended easily by Reveal.

Block wants to get back to his feet.
Reveal missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Block is looking to improve his position.
Block is not content to let Reveal control the position.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Block trying to hold on to Reveal's head to control him but Reveal postures up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Reveal dives in and scores a takedown into Block 's guard.

Block working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Reveal doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Reveal manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Reveal stands up from Block 's guard - Reveal perhaps looking for a knockout.
Reveal fails with a takedown attempt.
Block looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Reveal closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Block 's guard.
Reveal working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Block keeping full guard, as Reveal tries to pass.

Block working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Reveal doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Reveal manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Reveal keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Block 's head.

Reveal gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Reveal clinches with his opponent.
Reveal lands with a light punch inside.
Block fails to pull the fight into his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dash Reveal dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Block shoots in but Reveal avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Block scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Reveal doesn't seem bothered though.

Reveal feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Reveal sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Block 's guard.
Reveal is just content to waste time from the top position. Block takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Reveal wants to control from the top but Block keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reveal looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Block not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Block wants to sweep here but Reveal controlling him for the moment.

Reveal decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Block slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Block misses with a few strikes there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Block defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Reveal.
Block connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Reveal's hands.

Reveal rushes Block and presses him up against the cage.
Reveal on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Block is looking to take this one to the mat.
Block takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Block has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Reveal is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Dash Reveal has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Spear Block .
Reveal crunches a lovely knee into Block 's ribcage.
Block can't get the takedown.

Reveal has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Block uses from the top position.

Reveal is looking for a triangle but Block pushes his legs off easily.
Reveal looking to control.

Block works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Block is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Reveal has managed to free his arm - good work.
Reveal works his way to full guard. Good work.
Reveal not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Reveal is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Block is looking to control Reveal's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Block avoid being mounted?
Dash Reveal overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Reveal wants to control but Block is keeping him busy.
Reveal prevents Block from improving his position.
Reveal stops Block from getting back to his feet.
Reveal seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Block does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Reveal stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Spear Block has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dash Reveal is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Reveal lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dash Reveal showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Reveal, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
