PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Pierre Strickland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kto Kto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pierre Strickland!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kto Kto!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Reed Andrews and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kto moves into the clinch.

Kto breaks from the clinch.

Strickland gets caught flat footed, as Kto shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Kto is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Strickland looking to control.
Kto is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kto wants to stand but Strickland has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Kto stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Strickland swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kto is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Kto is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kto not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Strickland moves out of range as Kto throws a body kick.
Kto avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Kto gets a double leg takedown into Strickland's guard.
Kto content to stall in guard here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Strickland could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Strickland looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kto sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Strickland is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kto wants to stand but Strickland is controlling his posture from full guard.
Kto controls from within his opponent's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kto has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Strickland is proving hard to escape from.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kto misses with a low kick.
Strickland throws a sloppy head kick and Kto moves out of range easily.
Strickland tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kto paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Kto closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Strickland quickly recovers to half guard.

Strickland is defending against the submission attempts here by Kto.
Still in half guard, Kto seems content to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Strickland trying to control from the bottom.
Strickland might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Kto is working for a submission of some sort.
Kto sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Strickland defending well though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kto Kto dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Strickland showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kto.
It looked like Strickland was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Kto.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kto. Strickland does a little dance to reset his feet.

Kto gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Kto has picked Strickland up - he's going for a ride! Kto dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Kto is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Strickland sees it coming and defends easily.
Strickland wants to control but Kto is keeping busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kto content to control rather than advance.
Strickland is trying to get back to full guard.
Kto Kto has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kto seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Strickland trying to control here.
Strickland gets back to full guard.
Strickland keeping full guard, as Kto tries to pass.
Strickland will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kto wants to stand but Strickland has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Kto manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Strickland on his heels. He'll look to pass Strickland's guard now, I'm sure.

Kto drops back, looking for a kneebar! Strickland looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Strickland looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Strickland!

Kto is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Strickland has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Strickland wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kto, who protects the arm well.
Kto manages to work his way to half guard, despite Strickland's best efforts.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kto is pressing down on Strickland's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Strickland has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Kto to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Strickland is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Kto pulls down on the head and he's put Strickland to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Kto Kto!
