Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lex Deathgripp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seto The Cobra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Seto The Cobra is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lex Deathgripp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Seto The Cobra!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Shimada and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Deathgripp shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Deathgripp showed some decent athleticism there.
The Cobra looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
The Cobra is trying to control but can't.
Deathgripp looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Deathgripp is working for a kimura but The Cobra is defending it quite comfortably.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The Cobra trying to control from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Deathgripp looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Deathgripp content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Deathgripp has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Deathgripp seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down The Cobra for as long as he can get away with.

Deathgripp is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Deathgripp is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, The Cobra has managed to free his arm - good work.
The Cobra felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Deathgripp wants to pass to mount but The Cobra is defending the position.
The Cobra is trying to maintain the position but Deathgripp is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Deathgripp throws out a leg kick but The Cobra moves out of range and Deathgripp only half commits.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from The Cobra! But no joy.

Deathgripp drives through with a takedown into The Cobra's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

The Cobra looking to control.

The Cobra has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Deathgripp can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Deathgripp passes The Cobra's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Deathgripp is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, The Cobra has managed to free his arm - good work.
Deathgripp passes the guard and advances to mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Deathgripp scoring with strikes but The Cobra is staying in there.
The Cobra has given up his back.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Deathgripp's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Deathgripp keeps control of the position as The Cobra tries to break free.
The Cobra is still trying to improve position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lex Deathgripp dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Deathgripp fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. The Cobra sprawls well initially but Deathgripp persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Deathgripp looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Deathgripp perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Deathgripp works his foot free and advances to mount.

Deathgripp has control of The Cobra's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and The Cobra regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Deathgripp sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The Cobra tries to lock up and control but Deathgripp gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The Cobra is wriggling around trying to escape.
Deathgripp looking to finish The Cobra with some ground and pound. This is bad for The Cobra!
The Cobra is looking to get to half guard.

Deathgripp is working for a guillotine from mount but The Cobra frees his head quite easily.
Deathgripp is looking to work his way around to The Cobra's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
The Cobra is in all sorts of trouble here.

Deathgripp controlling his opponent.
Deathgripp is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that The Cobra can do to turn this around?
Deathgripp tries to control but The Cobra wriggling away.
The Cobra is looking to get to half guard.

Deathgripp content just to control the position here.
The Cobra gets back to half guard.
Deathgripp tries to stand but his hand is stuck under The Cobra.

The Cobra is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Deathgripp pulls his head out easily.

Deathgripp is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and The Cobra defends it well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Deathgripp stalling.
Lex Deathgripp overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Deathgripp is keen to just control but The Cobra is a slippery customer.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Deathgripp trying to advance position but The Cobra counters by regaining guard.
Deathgripp stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. The Cobra swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The Cobra keeping moving, preventing Deathgripp from controlling successfully.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lex Deathgripp dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!



Deathgripp scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Deathgripp just content to control the position.

Deathgripp tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Deathgripp is staying tight to The Cobra's torso, preventing him from escaping.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Deathgripp wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by The Cobra, who protects the arm well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The Cobra is not content to let Deathgripp control the position.
The Cobra tries to buck Deathgripp off but Deathgripp is having none of it.
The Cobra manages to work his way to half guard, despite Deathgripp's best efforts.

The Cobra is defending against the submission attempts here by Deathgripp.
Deathgripp is trying to control the action in half guard but The Cobra is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Deathgripp seems to be looking for submissions.
The Cobra is not content to let Deathgripp control the position.
The Cobra is pressing down on Deathgripp's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

The Cobra has his foot on Deathgripp's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Deathgripp works his way back into a safe position though.
Deathgripp tries to free his leg and advance position but The Cobra is retaining full guard.

Deathgripp is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The Cobra not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Deathgripp closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. The Cobra quickly recovers to half guard.
The Cobra is looking for a sweep. Deathgripp is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The Cobra keeps trying to improve his position.

Deathgripp is working for a submission of some sort.
Well, if Deathgripp is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Lex Deathgripp is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The Cobra slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Deathgripp's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Deathgripp trying to control the position from guard on top but The Cobra is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Seto The Cobra has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Lex Deathgripp showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Deathgripp has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
