Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alf Stewart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Hayes!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hayes is trying hard to land a takedown here. Stewart sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Hayes tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Stewart defends well and Hayes ends up having to push Stewart into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Stewart looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Hayes takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Hayes shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Stewart sprawls well. Stewart wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hayes gets slowly back to his feet.
Hayes looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Alf Stewart has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Hayes.

Hayes shoots and misses
and Hayes takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Stewart fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Hayes on the side of the head.
Stewart is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Hayes goes for a double leg but Stewart avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Stewart continues to drive forward.
Stewart connects with a body shot that sends Hayes's belly button to the back.
Stewart throws a leg kick but Hayes sees it coming and checks it nicely.
The crowd cheers as Stewart lands an impressive looking overhand right. Hayes doesn't seem phased though.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Stewart scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Stewart scores with a hook to the body. Hayes takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Stewart lands with a right hand.
Michael Hayes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hayes fails with a takedown attempt.
Stewart lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Stewart lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Stewart.


It looks like Michael Hayes has been cut.

Stewart moves into the clinch.

Stewart breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hayes misses with a takedown attempt - Stewart sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Stewart sizes up Hayes with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Stewart throws a combination. Hayes tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Hayes will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hayes is still on wobbly legs! Can Stewart finish him?

Stewart rushes Hayes and presses him up against the cage.
Hayes blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Hayes seems to have recovered his senses.
Stewart is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Stewart jumps guard.

Stewart wriggles free and stands up.
Hayes takes one to the chin there.
Stewart ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Stewart lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Stewart.

Stewart closes the distance and clinches.

Stewart ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Stewart no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Stewart kicks Hayes off and gets to his feet.
Stewart is breathing heavily.

Hayes fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Stewart sprawls well initially but Hayes persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Hayes is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Stewart defends it well.

Hayes stops Stewart from getting back to his feet.

Hayes has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Stewart defend it? Hayes steps over the head and cranks it - Stewart is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Hayes!
