Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez dives in and scores a takedown into Johnson's guard.
Johnson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Mendez postures up.
Johnson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Johnson thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Johnson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mendez on the ground.
Mendez wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mendez takes a decent strike to the side of the head.
Johnson controls Mendez momentarily but Mendez frees himself.
Johnson keeping moving, preventing Mendez from controlling successfully.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson wants to stand but Mendez is controlling the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Johnson clinches up with Mendez and pushes him back against the cage.

Mendez lands a takedown into guard.
Johnson is adopting a defensive guard.
Johnson looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Mendez has picked Johnson up and slammed him! Johnson can't keep hold of the triangle and Mendez manages to pass to side control!
Mendez is looking to take a break and control but Johnson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Johnson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Mendez trying to control the action but Johnson is working from the bottom.

Johnson is trying to improve his position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mendez working away.
Mendez wants to control but Johnson is keeping him busy.
Mendez goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Johnson rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Mendez's guard! Nice work there by Johnson!
Mendez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Johnson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Johnson gets to his feet - Mendez follows without any prompting.
Mendez bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Johnson tries to strike but it doesn't land.
Johnson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mendez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Johnson looks to move to half guard but instead Mendez has passed into mount! Damn!
Mendez trying to control but Johnson is having none of it.
Mendez looking for a guillotine from mount but Johnson is having none of it.

Mendez has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Johnson is forced to tap!
