Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jim Kelly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Theo Matthews!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kelly lands a big head kick that sends Matthews tumbling to the mat! Kelly takes a step backwards and waves Matthews back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Theo Matthews has been cut.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Matthews has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Kelly takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.


It looks like Jim Kelly has been cut.
Both fighters circling a little - Kelly finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Matthews lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Kelly at a distance.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Matthews shoots in and drives through. Kelly sprawls well.
Matthews moves in looking to clinch but Kelly pushes him off.
A big right from Matthews misses.
Kelly misses with a head kick.
Matthews pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Matthews feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Kellys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Matthews instigates a clinch.
Kelly lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Matthews backwards.
Matthews tries to pull guard but Kelly won't allow it.
Matthews blocks a body shot from Kelly.

Matthews manages to break the clinch.
Kelly throws a push kick but Matthews slaps the foot to one side.
Matthews scores with a jab to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kelly throws a head kick but Matthews moves out of range.
Matthews swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Kelly.
Matthews shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kelly as he avoids it easily.
Jim Kelly has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Theo Matthews.
Some wild striking there from Matthews.
Matthews tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Kelly counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Matthews will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Matthews tries to bum rush Kelly with a series of wild strikes but Kelly uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A looping hook to the body misses from Matthews. Kelly does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kelly defending well as Matthews loads up on a big left hand.
Kelly jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Kelly stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kelly wants it to stay on the feet.
Theo Matthews seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Matthews tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kelly was well out of range. Poor timing from Matthews.
Matthews misses with a wild combination.
Kelly Rushes Matthews and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Matthews is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Kelly Piles on the pressure and Matthews crumples to the floor! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jim Kelly!
A less than humble Jim Kelly misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
