Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paul Holt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sanchez Nicholas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paul Holt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sanchez Nicholas!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Leandro Rodrigues and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nicholas scores with a takedown into Holt's guard.
Nicholas controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Nicholas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Holt swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Holt manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nicholas manages to break the clinch.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Nicholas.
Holt seems a little lost for a moment, as Nicholas dominates the positioning.

Holt is not content to let Nicholas control the position.
Nicholas moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Nicholas misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Nicholas trying to control the action but Holt is working from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Nicholas is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Holt has escaped the position, nice work there.
Holt prevents Nicholas from improving position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Nicholas looking to score a takedown here. Holt is defending well but Nicholas drives through and ends up in Holt's guard.

Nicholas wanted to stand there but Holt had control of the position.
Holt lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Nicholas bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Holt's guard.

Nicholas wants to pass the guard but Holt is keeping the position.
Nicholas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Holt keeping moving, preventing Nicholas from controlling successfully.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Holt is wriggling around but Nicholas manages to pass to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Holt's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



A momentary lapse in concentration from Holt enables Nicholas to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Holt manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Holt throws some shots to the body, keeping his opponent honest.

Nicholas gets to his feet. Holt looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Nicholas drives through with a takedown into Holt's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nicholas forces his way into half guard.

Nicholas seems to be looking for submissions.

Holt looks like he's trying to stand up.
Nicholas is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Holt is staying active underneath Nicholas, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Nicholas closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Holt did well to prevent Nicholas getting side control.
Holt won't allow Nicholas to pass to mount.
Nicholas not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Nicholas is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Holt trying to hold on to Nicholas's head to control him but Nicholas postures up.
Holt wants to improve his position but Nicholas is controlling well.
Nicholas prevents Holt from standing back up.

Nicholas decides to return to a standing position.
Nicholas swings for the body but Holt moves out of range.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Nicholas shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Nicholas was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Nicholas wants to take a breather but Holt manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Nicholas.
Nicholas looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Sanchez Nicholas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Nicholas looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Holt!
Holt tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Nicholas wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Nicholas wants to control but Holt is keeping him busy.
Nicholas throwing strikes but Holt manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Nicholas sneaks back into half guard.
Holt really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Nicholas has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Holt is on him like a limpet, forcing Nicholas back against the cage.
Nicholas lands a nice elbow.


It looks like Paul Holt has been cut.

Nicholas lands a nice knee to the body.
Holt tries to score a body lock takedown but Nicholas shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Stalling in the clinch from Nicholas.
Holt takes an elbow to the forehead.
Nicholas gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Holt blocks an elbow strike.
Nicholas comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.


Holt is rocked!

Nicholas lands an elbow just above Holt 's eye.
Oh Holt is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Holt is pressed against the cage. Nicholas pushes back and unleashes a big elbow that really hurts Holt! Two more big strikes from Nicholas and Holt crumples to the mat and taps out furiously due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:16 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Sanchez Nicholas!
