Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Helix Cabrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yaniv Schulmann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cabrera kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Imperitum. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Helix Cabrera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Yaniv Schulmann!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Schulmann throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cabrera was covering up waiting for the punch and Schulmann finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Schulmann looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Schulmann not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cabrera working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Schulmann doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Schulmann manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Cabrera swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Schulmann is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
and Schulmann connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Cabrera takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Schulmann is looking for a sweep. Cabrera is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schulmann has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cabrera is working away from the top position though.
Schulmann on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Cabrera is keen to just control but Schulmann is a slippery customer.
Schulmann wants to get back to full guard.
Schulmann is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Cabrera scores with a couple of nice shots.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cabrera wants to pass the guard but Schulmann is defending well.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Helix Cabrera will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Cabrera misses with a hook.
Schulmann uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Cabrera.
Schulmann let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Schulmann on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Schulmann slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Cabrera scores with a nice head shot.
Schulmann cracks Cabrera with an open hand slap.
Cabrera turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Cabrera slips a jab from Schulmann.
An attempted straight right counter from Cabrera misses the target.

Cabrera fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Schulmann to the ground. Cabrera is now in Schulmann's guard.

Schulmann is looking for a triangle but Cabrera pushes his legs off easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Cabrera postures up and lands a big shot to Schulmann's brow.
Cabrera connects with a couple of short punches.
Schulmann is trying to control the position but Cabrera postures up.

Schulmann throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Cabrera escapes and throws Schulmann's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Cabrera is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Schulmann can do to turn this around?
Cabrera gets to mount! Schulmann was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Cabrera postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Schulmann badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Cabrera around the waist but Cabrera pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Cabrera is the winner by TKO! Cabrera jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Helix Cabrera!
After the fight, Helix Cabrera was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
