Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Trevor Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Travis Speed!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones clinches with his opponent.

Jones's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jones displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Travis Speed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Speed shoots for a takedown but Jones saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jones tries for a takedown but Speed sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Speed wants to clinch up but Jones keeps it at a distance.
Speed cracks Jones with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Jones closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Jones has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Speed regains guard immediately.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jones throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Jones stands and steps away. Speed gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Jones tries to score a power double leg takedown but Speed sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jones somewhat.
Speed doesn't manage to clinch there - Jones circles away.

Speed jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Jones drops down looking for a counter takedown but Speed sprawls and moves away.
Speed looks winded!
Jones circles away from the clinch attempt
and Jones counters with a head kick. That will keep Speed thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Jones dives in for a single leg takedown but Speed sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trevor Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jones forces Speed back against the cage and clinches.
Jones is working for takedown but Speed is calmly controlling the position for now.
Jones's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Jones pulls guard successfully.
Jones tries to strike from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jones is on top in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones postures up.

Jones throws a strike but Speed rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Jones looking for a guillotine here but Speed defends easily.
Jones could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Jones has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Speed has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Jones ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jones no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Jones wants to sweep here but Speed controlling him for the moment.

Jones is pulling down on Speed's head to control his posture.

Jones is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Speed is aware though and is defending well.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Speed ducks right into an uppercut from Jones.

Speed tries to buck Jones off but Jones is having none of it.

Jones stands up and beckons Speed to his feet.
Speed stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Speed wants it to stay on the feet.

and Jones counters with a good low kick that Speed was not able to check.

Jones throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Speed.

Jones closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Jones misses with a head shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jones has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Jones is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Speed can do to turn this around?

Jones looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Jones sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Trevor Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jones is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Speed can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Jones drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jones is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Jones here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Jones passes Speed's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Jones controlling the pace.
Speed really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Speed takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Speed has hold of Jones's hands but Jones slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Jones pushes Speed up against the cage in a clinch.

Jones breaks from the clinch.
Speed displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jones.
Jones shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Speed pinned against the cage. Speed gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Jones keeps the fight on the outside.

Jones moves into range and clinches up with Speed.
Jones is working for takedown but Speed is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trevor Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Speed drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Jones gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Jones breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Jones tries to score a power double leg takedown but Speed sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jones somewhat.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Speed misses with a short punch on the inside.

Jones manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Speed throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jones works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Jones is pulling down on Speed's head. It's preventing any offense from Speed, at least for the moment.
Jones keeping moving, preventing Speed from controlling successfully.
Speed slips nicely into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Well Jones has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
