Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Willian French!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Philip Gunines!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gunines throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. French tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gunines is in French's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
French is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gunines trying to control but French is working from the bottom.
French really is a fat lump.
French pulls Gunines in close to prevent any damage.
French is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

French might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Gunines trying to control the position from guard on top but French is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Gunines closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming French to the mat! French manages to get full guard.
French knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gunines on the ground.
Gunines wants to stand but French is controlling his posture from full guard.
French is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Gunines trying to control the position from guard on top but French is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

French looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gunines is one step ahead there.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Gunines changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. French looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
You can see the frustration on French's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
French tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Gunines is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. French knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Gunines is trying to ground and pound but French uses the momentary lack of control by Gunines to regain half guard.
French wants to improve his position but Gunines is controlling well.
Gunines is thwarting French's attempts to control the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Gunines is keen to just control but French is a slippery customer.
French trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Gunines controlling the pace for now.
Gunines misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

French doing his best to control the position. Can he escape?
French is desperately trying to improve his position but Gunines has a good base and remains in mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Gunines tries to sprawl but French drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Gunines has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Gunines keeping hold of French's head, controlling as best he can.
French wants to stand up but Gunines is controlling the position.
French scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

French looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gunines with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Gunines gets full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
French wants to get up but he can't break Gunines's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
French is working Gunines over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

French gets to his feet. Gunines looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Gunines scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
French has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gunines is working away from the top position though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
French tries to get to full guard but Gunines has control of the leg.
Well, if Gunines is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Gunines is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
It looks like Gunines is going to stand back up.

That was a close second round but I would say that Willian French will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Gunines has worked his way into a potential kimura here. French is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Gunines yanks on the arm and French is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Gunines.
