PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jet Li (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Knapp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Li comes to the cage accompanied by Tourniquet by Evanescence. Knapp has chosen Go to Sleep as his entrance music. Peter Knapp told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are William Peck, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Li punishes Knapp's body with a nice straight punch.
Knapp dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Li, right into the meat.
Knapp looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Li is fending him off so far but Knapp persists. Nope, Li circles away and we're back to standing.

Li clinches with his opponent.
Li misses with a punch on the inside.
Still in the clinch, Li scores with a nice short uppercut.
Li lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Li has Knapp pressed against the cage.
Li struggles to land a body shot inside as Knapp controls his hands.
Knapp is trying to break free.
Li misses with a hook from the clinch.
Knapp misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Li throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Li lands a left hand.
A right hand to the body from Li.
Knapp looks winded!
This has been an exciting period of action!
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Li.
Knapp misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Knapp blocks a punch to the side of the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Knapp is trying to break free.
Knapp has had enough of the clinch but Li keeps him there for the moment.
Knapp tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Li swings wildly with an uppercut but Knapp uses good head movement to avoid it.
Knapp digs a right hand into Li's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Li's gas tank.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Knapp blocking some punches.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Li takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Knapp misses with some punches.
Knapp takes a shot to the head.
Li is stalling here.
Knapp wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Li has him pressed against the cage.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Li tries to throw a body punch but Knapp avoids it by throwing Li back against the cage.

Knapp is looking to break free of the clinch but Li has double underhooks.

Knapp breaks from the clinch.
Li throws a shot to the body.
Li delivers a nice body kick.
Li lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

It looks like Peter Knapp has been cut.
Li lands with a straight right. Knapp didn't see that one coming.

Knapp is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Knapp needs to keep his hands up - Li had a free shot at his head there.
Knapp is still on wobbly legs! Can Li finish him?

Li closes the distance and clinches.
Li creates some distance for himself and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Knapp's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Knapp drops to his knees and Li pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
