The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomi Jr swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Carmen clobbers Gomi Jr with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

It looks like Yoshi Gomi Jr has been cut.
A slow jab from Carmen misses its intended target.
Carmen throws an overhand right that lands on Gomi Jr's shoulder, as Gomi Jr tries to avoid the shot.
A looping hook to the body misses from Gomi Jr. Carmen does a little dance to reset his feet.
Carmen was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Gomi Jr fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Carmen lands a big uppercut and Gomi Jr crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Gomi Jr looks OK. Carmen waves Gomi Jr back to his feet!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gomi Jr looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Carmen is fending him off so far but Gomi Jr persists. Nope, Carmen circles away and we're back to standing.
Gomi Jr avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Nice takedown defense from Carmen. No joy for Gomi Jr on that attempt.
Shane Carmen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yoshi Gomi Jr.
A swing and a miss from Carmen.

Gomi Jr closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Carmen did well to prevent Gomi Jr getting side control.

Gomi Jr is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Gomi Jr seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Carmen does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Well, if Gomi Jr is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
My spies in NAPW Dynasty inform me that Gomi Jr has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Carmen wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gomi Jr looking to control but Carmen is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Gomi Jr takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Carmen defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Gomi Jr.

Gomi Jr looking to secure an arm triangle but Carmen defends it well.

Gomi Jr working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Carmen turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Gomi Jr off and cradles Carmen's limp body as Gomi Jr celebrates with his corner.
