Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fernando Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stanley Burrell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves comes to the cage accompanied by Rob Zombie - Scum of the earth . Burrell has chosen Can't Touch This as his entrance music. Stanley Burrell acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fernando Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 13 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stanley Burrell !
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Richard Clark and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burrell throws a body shot but no joy.
Burrell displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.

Alves misses with a low kick.

Alves shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Burrell napping and manages to drive through into side control!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Burrell wants to control but Alves postures up.

Alves is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Burrell has escaped the position, nice work there.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Burrell is looking to regain half guard here but Alves keeps moving and retains side control.

Alves wants to sweep but no luck.
Burrell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alves swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Burrell is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That was a close round but I would say that Fernando Alves will probably get the nod.

Burrell fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Alves on the side of the head.
Alves fails to land with a series of punches.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Burrell ! But no joy.

Alves feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Burrell s jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Burrell throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Burrell tries a quick counter leg kick but Alves is wise to it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Burrell 's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Burrell duly obliges.

Alves has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Alves there as he acknowledges the shot.
Alves is looking to score with low kicks.
No joy there for Burrell , who threw a few shots but didn't land.

A clash of legs there as Burrell blocks the low kick.
Alves moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Nice uppercut lands for Alves. That snapped Burrell 's head back.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Burrell , as that shot connected.

Alves bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Alves attempts a counter takedown but Burrell avoids it well and moves away.

and Burrell counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

We've been informed that Burrell has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Burrell throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Alves sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Burrell does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Burrell lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Alves circles away quickly and effectively.

Fernando Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Burrell lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Alves backs up against the cage.
Alves has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Burrell finds it's way round the side to connect with Alves's head.

Burrell stuns Alves with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Burrell clobbers Alves with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Alves tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Burrell is able to avoid easily.

Burrell dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Alves. That did some damage!

I think Burrell has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
