Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Hughs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Franky Yip (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yip ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hughs moves away.
Yip shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Yip showed some decent athleticism there.
It looks like Yip is going to stand back up.
Hughs looking for submissions off his back.
Yip works his way into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Yip decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Yip throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hughs's waist but Hughs gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Yip off to one side.

Hughs lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Yip circles away quickly and effectively.
Yip drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Yip avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Yip pushes down on Hughs's leg and manages to get into half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Yip connects with a nice short shot to Hughs's temple.
Hughs is not content to let Yip control the position.
Well, if Yip is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Yip is trying to control. Hughs wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Hughs tries to roll over but Yip keeps him under control.
Yip stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Yip closes the distance and clinches up with Hughs, looking for a takedown. Yip pushes Hughs against the cage but Hughs circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Sloppy strikes from Hughs. Those never looked like landing.
Yip scores with a nice right hand.

Yip wants to take the fight to the mat but Hughs manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Yip tries to land knees in the clinch but Hughs avoids the damage to the body.

Hughs goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Hughs wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Hughs throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Hughs tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Yip avoids it.
Yip is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Hughs tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Yip on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Yip is trying to pull guard but Hughs has him pressed against the cage.
Hughs escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Yip looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Hughs on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
An inside leg kick from Hughs misses.
Hughs misses with a head kick.
Hughs stuffs the takedown attempt from Yip. Yip gets slowly back to his feet.
Hughs keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hughs throws a hook to the side of Yip's head but Yip sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Yip bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Hughs's head.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Yip.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hughs is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Yip has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Yip decides to stand up.
Yip lands a right hook to the body.
Danga de danga de dang - Yip scores with a four punch combination!
Yip avoids the body shot from Hughs.
Yip is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Yip moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Yip clinches up with Hughs and pushes him back against the cage.
Yip tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Yip has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Hughs after a bit of a struggle.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hughs using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Yip has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Hughs lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Hughs throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Yip blocks it with crossed arms.
Hughs tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Hughs breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Yip throws a leg kick
and Hughs counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Yip throws a combination. Hughs tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Hughs throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Yip shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hughs as he jumps to the side.
Hughs swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Franky Yip will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Hughs closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Yip did well to prevent Hughs getting side control.
Yip is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Hughs scores with a couple of nice shots.

Hughs stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Yip swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hughs makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Yip bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hughs's guard.
Yip slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Franky Yip has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hughs working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Yip doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Yip manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Yip lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Joe Hughs has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Yip would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Yip wants to control from the top but Hughs keeps moving.
Yip is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Yip moves into full mount! Hughs won't be happy about that!

Yip cracks Hughs with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Yip tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Let's hope that Yip has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Hughs slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Yip takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Hughs tries to get to full guard but Yip has control of the leg.
Yip thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Yip slips a nice elbow through Hughs's hands, connecting with Hughs's forehead.
Yip is controlling the pace.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Yip is continuing to stall.

Franky Yip comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Yip winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
