PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kim Il Sung (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erik Kramer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kim Il Sung!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Erik Kramer!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Il Sung tries to move into range but Kramer moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Kramer moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Il Sung throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Il Sung just misses with a punch to the body.
It seemed like Kramer was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Kramer throws a leg kick that misses.
Kramer comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Kramer tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Kramer moves out of range of the leg kick from Il Sung.
A countering left hand to the body from Kramer misses.

Il Sung shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Kramer controls Il Sung momentarily but Il Sung frees himself.
Il Sung not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Il Sung definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Il Sung trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Il Sung engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Il Sung passes Kramer's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Il Sung is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kramer defends it well.
Kramer is trying to maintain the position but Il Sung is very close to passing his half guard.
Il Sung is trying to control the action in half guard but Kramer is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Kramer is looking for a sweep. Il Sung is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Il Sung is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kramer is just riding it out for now. Il Sung eventually gives up the hold.

Il Sung is working for a submission of some sort.
Kramer wants to control but Il Sung is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Il Sung seems to be working for a kimura but Kramer defends the submission attempt.

Kramer has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Il Sung is working away from the top position though.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Il Sung tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kramer was well out of range. Poor timing from Il Sung.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kramer. Il Sung does a little dance to reset his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Il Sung ducks under a wild hook from Kramer.
Kramer uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Il Sung.
Il Sung chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Il Sung has managed to clinch.
Kramer wants to break free but Il Sung has control.
Kramer tries to break the clinch but Il Sung is controlling the position.
Il Sung lands a body shot.
Il Sung blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Il Sung tries to throw a body punch but Kramer avoids it by throwing Il Sung back against the cage.
Il Sung working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Kramer doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Kramer is trying to break the clinch but Il Sung has him pressed against the cage.

Il Sung lands a knee to the body.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

and Il Sung counters with a shoot takedown. Kramer fights it but they end up in guard.
Kramer has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Il Sung has passed into side control.

Kramer is trying to escape the position but Il Sung is controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kramer is in a bad position with Il Sung working for a choke. Kramer manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.

Il Sung has his foot on Kramer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kramer works his way back into a safe position though.

Il Sung is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kramer pulls his head out easily.

Kramer is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Il Sung is just riding it out for now. Kramer eventually gives up the hold.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Il Sung is refusing to be controlled, as Kramer sits in half guard.
Kramer throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Kramer is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Il Sung to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
Kramer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Il Sung swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Il Sung tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Il Sung working a defensive guard here.
Il Sung is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Kramer wants to slow Il Sung down by chopping away at his legs.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Il Sung lands with a thumping leg kick.
Kramer misses with a body shot.
Kramer throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

and Il Sung counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Il Sung tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Kramer's elbow.

Il Sung jumps guard and drags Kramer to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Il Sung manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kramer manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Il Sung not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


Il Sung swings for the body but Kramer moves out of range.
Il Sung misses with a right hand
and Kramer connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Il Sung lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Il Sung tries a body shot but Kramer blocks it.
Il Sung misses with a hook to the ribs.
Kramer on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Kramer wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Il Sung has him pressed against the cage.
Il Sung is working for takedown but Kramer is calmly controlling the position for now.
Il Sung tries to work over Kramer's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Kramer takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Il Sung has picked Kramer up - he's going for a ride! Il Sung dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Il Sung wants to work for an arm triangle but Kramer is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Il Sung is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kramer doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Il Sung.

Il Sung takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Il Sung is looking to wear down Kramer with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Kramer connects with a looping right hand.

Kim Il Sung showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Il Sung, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
