Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Pierre Laprise (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mr Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mr Ward has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Pierre Laprise's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pierre Laprise!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mr Ward!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Laprise drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Ward not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Laprise is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Always Clean Double Elite that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Ward wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Laprise won't allow Ward to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Laprise throws a big right hand that misses.

My spies in Strong like Butterfly inform me that Ward has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Laprise is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Ward throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Laprise tightens his grip and picks Ward up, before dumping him to the ground. Ward manages to land in guard.

Ward is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Laprise defends well.

Laprise drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Ward manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Laprise has Ward in his guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Pierre Laprise.
