Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Hoop!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jaime Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoop misses with a body shot.
Hoop looks to throw the jab but Alvarez is out of range.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Alvarez has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Hoop throws a body punch but Alvarez moves out of range.
Alvarez changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Alvarez throws a jab when Hoop was well out of range.
Hoop is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

Alvarez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hoop's waist but Hoop gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Alvarez off to one side.
Alvarez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hoop is fending him off so far but Alvarez persists. Nope, Hoop circles away and we're back to standing.
Hoop throws a nice looking combination but Alvarez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Hoop tries to throw a body punch but Alvarez avoids it by throwing Hoop back against the cage.

A nice right hand lands inside from Hoop.
Alvarez struggles to land a body shot inside as Hoop controls his hands.
Hoop digs a right hand into Alvarez's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Alvarez's gas tank.
Hoop goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Hoop crunches a lovely knee into Alvarez's ribcage.
Hoop cracks Alvarez with a nice body shot.
Hoop struggles to land a body shot inside as Alvarez controls his hands.

Hoop gets through Alvarez's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Still in the clinch, Hoop scores with a nice short uppercut.


Alvarez is rocked!

Hoop unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Alvarez! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Hoop is unloading with more strikes now! Alvarez drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Hoop!
John Hoop very nearly forgot to thank Walhalla Clothing (25 €/piece) amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
