Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Clawnes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Harris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Thomas Clawnes!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harris lands a leg kick that knocks Clawnes off balance momentarily.
Paul Harris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Harris throws the left hand but Clawnes avoids the punch easily.
Harris uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Clawnes.
Harris throws a low kick but Clawnes moves out of range easily.
Clawnes lands a really nice looking cross but Harris seems unphased.


It looks like Paul Harris has been cut.
Clawnes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

As Clawnes backs away, Harris returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

and Clawnes counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Harris stuns Clawnes with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Clawnes's jab looks to have found its range, popping Harris under the eye.

Harris feints and then cracks Clawnes's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Clawnes down.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Harris uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Clawnes.

Harris tries for a takedown but Clawnes sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Harris has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Clawnes finds it's way round the side to connect with Harris's head.
Harris loads up on a big right hand but Clawnes slips the punch.
Clawnes throws a shot from downtown. Harris moves away and avoids it.
Clawnes lands with a hook. Harris tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

so Harris counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Harris slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Clawnes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Clawnes told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Harris is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Clawnes is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Harris is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Clawnes is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Harris has his hands clasped together but Clawnes extends and breaks Harris's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Clawnes.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Thomas Clawnes!
