The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Washington shoots and misses
and Vantuiese counters with a stiff right hand.
Washington moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
A big head kick from Vantuiese and Washington is sent sprawling to the canvas!

It looks like Wildemeer Washington has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vantuiese stands up over Washington, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Washington is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Vantuiese gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Washington jumps guard but Vantuiese turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Jorge Vantuiese has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wildemeer Washington.

Washington throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Vantuiese! Washington is out on his feet! Vantuiese rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Washington is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Washington is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
