Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Benny Brett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Shimazu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Benny Brett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, William Shimazu!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good shot there by Brett.
We've been hearing reports that Brett has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Brett bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Shimazu's head backwards.
Brett throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Shimazu stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Benny Brett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brett throws a lazy right hand but Shimazu sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Shimazu wants to clinch up but Brett keeps it at a distance.
Brett misses the jab.
Shimazu chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Brett can pounce on him.

enabling Brett to counter with a crisp jab.
Shimazu moves out of range as Brett throws a body kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shimazu throws a sloppy head kick and Brett moves out of range easily.
Brett throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Shimazu has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Brett misses with a hook. Shimazu ducked under it nicely.

Brett throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Shimazus head.
Shimazu connects with a nasty looking knee right to Brett's face.


It looks like Benny Brett has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Brett is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Shimazu pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Shimazu throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Brett blocks it with crossed arms.

Shimazu lands with a light punch inside.
Brett lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Shimazu backwards.

Shimazu misses with a hook from the clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Brett goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William Shimazu dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Benny Brett's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Brett closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Brett controls the position.
Shimazu takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Shimazu wants to get back to his feet.

Brett works to advance to full mount. Shimazu defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shimazu tries to hold on but Brett pushes him away.

Shimazu is rocked!

Brett is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Shimazu can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Shimazu is still in real trouble! Can Brett finish him?
Brett connects with a bit shot that sees Shimazu covering up! More strikes from Brett and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Brett is our winner by TKO!

Benny Brett bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
