Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Gypsy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jan Bodahl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jan Bodahl has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Carlos Gypsy's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Carlos Gypsy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jan Bodahl!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gypsy throws a right hand that Bodahl ducks under and follows up with a left that Bodahl also avoids with ease.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Bodahl! But no joy.

Gypsy shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Bodahl is looking for a sweep. Gypsy is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Bodahl moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Gypsy working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Our spies down at at MMA Sanok Training Center inform us that Bodahl has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bodahl is trying to control the position but Gypsy postures up.

Bodahl has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gypsy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Bodahl is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Bodahl holds on and takes a little breather.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Gypsy is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bodahl sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Gypsy shoots in for a takedown but Bodahl shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Gypsy instigates a clinch.
Bodahl avoiding damage as Gypsy throws knees to the body.
Bodahl is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Gypsy gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Gypsy is pressed up against the cage. Bodahl has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Gypsy down to the mat. Gypsy avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Gypsy scores with a head kick. Bodahl tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Horrible takedown attempt by Gypsy or perhaps it was just good defense by Bodahl, which made it look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Gypsy. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bodahl is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gypsy is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Bodahl working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Gypsy's head.
Bodahl passes Gypsy's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Bodahl moves nicely into side control.

Bodahl tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bodahl has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

A close round but Jan Bodahl will probably get the nod.
That's time! Gypsy's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Gypsy counters with a nice body shot.

Bodahl shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gypsy's guard.
Bodahl slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bodahl wants to clinch up but Gypsy keeps it at a distance.

Gypsy rushes Bodahl and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Gypsy could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gypsy with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Gypsy tries to break the clinch but Bodahl is controlling the position.
Gypsy is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

Gypsy looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Gypsy drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Gypsy jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bodahl walks away with a smile on his face. Gypsy gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Bodahl throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gypsy wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Gypsy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bodahl is trying to control the position but Gypsy postures up.
Bodahl wants to sweep here but Gypsy controlling him for the moment.
Bodahl is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Bodahl is taking a breather. Gypsy says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Gypsy tries to roll over but Bodahl keeps him under control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bodahl is keen to just control but Gypsy is a slippery customer.
Gypsy makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gypsy.
Bodahl is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Gypsy wants to hit a switch here but Bodahl passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Gypsy there!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Bodahl moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Gypsy has worked his arm free - good work by Gypsy!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jan Bodahl will probably get the nod - 10:9.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Gypsy misses with a few strikes there.
Bodahl avoids a punch combination nicely.
Bodahl shoots in looking for a takedown. Gypsy tries to sprawl out of it but Bodahl keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gypsy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Bodahl wants a takedown but no success here.
Carlos Gypsy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jan Bodahl.

Bodahl is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gypsy is just riding it out for now. Bodahl eventually gives up the hold.

Bodahl seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gypsy does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Gypsy is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bodahl is aware though and is defending well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Carlos Gypsy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Gypsy misses with a straight left.

Carlos Gypsy showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Bodahl has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
