Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mt Castillo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Kalaway (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mt Castillo could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Mark Kalaway's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mt Castillo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Kalaway!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kalaway is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Castillo's half guard.
Castillo is trying to control but can't.
Castillo tries to roll over but Kalaway keeps him under control.

Kalaway is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Kalaway is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Castillo is just riding it out for now. Kalaway eventually gives up the hold.
Castillo wants to control but Kalaway is keeping busy.

Kalaway seems to be working for a kimura but Castillo defends the submission attempt.

Kalaway is looking for a kimura but Castillo is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kalaway to get the leverage.

Kalaway drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kalaway jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Castillo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kalaway can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Castillo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kalaway gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Castillo controls Kalaway momentarily but Kalaway frees himself.

Castillo is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Castillo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Castillo wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Kalaway is now in half guard.

Kalaway is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Castillo sees it coming and defends easily.

Kalaway is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Kalaway should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Castillo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kalaway circles away.
Kalaway goes for a double leg but Castillo avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Castillo continues to drive forward.
Kalaway shoots for a double leg takedown but Castillo sprawls well. He's pushed Kalaway's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Castillo throws a counter high kick but Kalaway was just alert enough to avoid it.
Castillo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kalaway tries to avoid it but Castillo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kalaway to the ground. Kalaway escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Castillo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kalaway's waist but Kalaway gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Castillo off to one side.

As Kalaway tries to get set, Castillo tries to push him back and clinch up but Kalaway manages to avoid the attempt.
Mt Castillo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Kalaway.
Castillo shoots in looking for a takedown but Kalaway manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Castillo's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Kalaway is pressed up against the cage. Castillo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kalaway down to the mat. Kalaway avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Castillo is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Kalaway.

Kalaway closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kalaway lands in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kalaway stands and throws Castillo's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Kalaway wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Castillo, who protects the arm well.
Kalaway takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Castillo tries to buck Kalaway off but Kalaway is having none of it.

Castillo can't do much from the bottom here.
Castillo is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kalaway is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Kalaway tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kalaway has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Kalaway thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Kalaway is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Kalaway is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Castillo doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kalaway.
Castillo desperately trying to maintain half guard.

Castillo has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Kalaway. Oh but Castillo has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Kalaway goes limp - he's gone! Castillo jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Mt Castillo!
A relieved looking Mt Castillo thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
