PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tom Noisy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Will Longwe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Will Longwe was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tom Noisy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Will Longwe!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Andrew Berry and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Longwe stuffs the takedown attempt from Noisy. Noisy gets slowly back to his feet.

Noisy shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Longwe napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Longwe tries to bench press Noisy off him but Noisy keeps the position.
Longwe keeps trying to improve his position.
Noisy wants to control but Longwe is keeping him busy.
Noisy takes a little break here. Longwe wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Longwe is looking for a sweep.
Longwe avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Noisy.

Noisy working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Noisy trying to control the action but Longwe is working from the bottom.
Noisy is really struggling to control Longwe but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Noisy wants to take a breather but Longwe manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Noisy.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Longwe fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Noisy fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Longwe to the ground. Noisy is now in Longwe's guard.
Longwe is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Noisy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Longwe swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Longwe is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Noisy is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Longwe is refusing to be controlled, as Noisy sits in half guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Longwe is staying active underneath Noisy, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Longwe controls Noisy momentarily but Noisy frees himself.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Longwe is on top in guard.

Longwe wants to pass the guard but Noisy is keeping the position.
Tom Noisy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Noisy is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Noisy is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Noisy tries to pass the half guard into mount. Longwe knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Noisy seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Longwe does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Longwe shoots for a double leg takedown but Noisy sprawls well. He's pushed Longwe's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Longwe fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Noisy avoids it really well and circles away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Longwe darts in looking for a takedown but Noisy gets double underhooks and turns Longwe into the cage.
Tom Noisy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Will Longwe.

Noisy drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Noisy pushes down on Longwe's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Noisy is looking to advance position but Longwe won't allow it.
Noisy frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Noisy looking to control but Longwe is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tom Noisy showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Noisy, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
