Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shinichi Onizuka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary Player (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Onizuka comes to the cage accompanied by Nate Dogg - First We Pray. Player has chosen Kevin Gates feat. August Alsina - I Don't Get Tired as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Shinichi Onizuka has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Shinichi Onizuka seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 15 - 1, fighting out of New York, Shinichi Onizuka!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gary Player!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Paul Tew and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Onizuka dips to his left and cracks Player with an uppercut!
Onizuka connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Player ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Onizuka moves away.
Player lands with a straight right. Onizuka didn't see that one coming.
Onizuka swings for the body but Player moves out of range.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Onizuka checks a leg kick.

Onizuka moves into range and clinches up with Player.
Player working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Onizuka is looking for a takedown.
Player misses with the head strike.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Onizuka.
A head punch on the inside from Player fails to land.
Player working aggressively here.
Player misses with the head strike.
Player scores with a shot to the side of Onizuka's head.
Onizuka misses with a punch on the inside.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Player swings wildly with an uppercut but Onizuka uses good head movement to avoid it.
We've been hearing reports that Onizuka has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Player misses with some punches.

Onizuka breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Player takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Player throws a poor cross that misses

and Onizuka counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Onizuka.

Onizuka tries to free his leg and advance position but Player is retaining full guard.

Onizuka postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Player is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Onizuka, into his guard.

Onizuka working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Player doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Player manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Onizuka is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Player is stalling in the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Onizuka had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Player defends it easily.

Player must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Onizuka is looking for a triangle but Player pushes his legs off easily.
Player slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Player looking to improve position, pressing down on Onizuka's thigh with his hand. Onizuka seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Player paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Player's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Onizuka picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
