Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lindsey Roach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Lindsey Roach has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lindsey Roach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Max Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Igor Prikhodko and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson throws a sloppy head kick
and Roach counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Peterson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Roach was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Roach could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Roach clinches up with Peterson and pushes him back against the cage.
Peterson has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Peterson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Roach smiles and moves away.
Peterson is looking to land body kicks.
Max Peterson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Peterson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Roach did well to prevent Peterson getting side control.
Peterson working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Roach's thigh. Roach counters though and makes it back to full guard.

Peterson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Roach works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Peterson looking to sit in guard and control but Roach gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Peterson wants to sweep here but Roach controlling him for the moment.

Roach is looking to work some ground and pound but Peterson has wrist control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Roach wanted to stand there but Peterson had control of the position.
Roach wants to control from the top but Peterson keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Peterson looking to score a takedown here. Roach is defending well but Peterson drives through and ends up in Roach's guard.
Roach pulls Peterson in close to prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Peterson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Peterson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Peterson throws a big elbow that misses.
Peterson engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Peterson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Peterson works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Roach has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Peterson is working away from the top position though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Roach pushes Peterson up against the cage in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Max Peterson dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Roach blocks a low kick nicely.
Roach is looking for a counter combo.

Peterson takes the fight into the clinch.
Peterson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Roach's efforts to push away.

Peterson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Peterson shoots in for a double leg but Roach sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

and Roach holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Roach might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Peterson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Peterson is on top in guard.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lindsey Roach will probably get the nod.

Roach darts in and clinches Peterson up against the cage.
Peterson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Roach pulls his leg out and moves away.
Peterson tries for a takedown but Roach circles away easily
and Roach counters with a nice body shot.
Peterson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Lindsey Roach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Peterson.
Roach tries to close the distance and clinch up but Peterson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Roach shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Peterson but Peterson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Max Peterson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Peterson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Roach tries to close the distance and clinch but Peterson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A nice side step and Peterson releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Peterson dives in and grabs Roach's left leg, looking for a takedown. Roach pushes down on Peterson's head and hops out.

Peterson gets tackled into the cage by Roach. Roach maintains the clinch.

Peterson has clasped his hands together around Roach's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Peterson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Roach keeps working.
Roach is looking to reverse the position.

Peterson lands some shots froms side control.
Peterson tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Peterson has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Roach is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Peterson yanks on the arm and Roach is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Peterson.
