PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mario Puzo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rikkard Hanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Puzo's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Speak Softly Love. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hanson connects with a crisp jab.
Hanson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Puzo stuffs the takedown.
Hanson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Puzo tries to avoid it but Hanson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Puzo to the ground. Puzo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hanson motions for Puzo to come forward. Hanson throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Puzo has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Hilo Training Center in the buildup to the fight.
Hanson moves away from the strike by Puzo.
Hanson stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Puzo.
Puzo misses with a body shot.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Puzo connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Hanson momentarily.
Hanson takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Hanson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Puzo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Puzo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hanson was well out of range. Poor timing from Puzo.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Hanson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Puzo keeps working.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hanson is looking to take a break and control but Puzo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Puzo fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hanson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Puzo throws a leg kick but Hanson moved away.
A bone on bone clash there as Hanson blocks the leg kick.
Hanson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Puzo pinned against the cage. Puzo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Hanson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hanson lands in his opponent's guard.
