PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcin Sobol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Reynolds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Marcin Sobol!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ray Reynolds !
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Bart Greer and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Sobol with that takedown attempt.
Sobol tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Reynolds manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Sobol could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Reynolds is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sobol sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Sobol connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Reynolds 's hands.
Sobol tries to clinch there but Reynolds circles away.
Reynolds throws out a counter right but Sobol avoids it with no problem.
Sobol swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Sobol shoots in looking for a takedown. Reynolds tries to sprawl out of it but Sobol keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Reynolds manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
As Sobol backs off Reynolds throws a huge counter combo but Sobol manages to avoid it all.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sobol closes this distance looking for a takedown but Reynolds circles away.

Reynolds throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sobol's waist but Sobol gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Reynolds off to one side.

Sobol shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Reynolds sprawls well. Reynolds wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sobol gets slowly back to his feet.

Reynolds closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Reynolds can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sobol passes into half guard.
Reynolds is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Sobol wants to control but Reynolds is keeping him busy.

Sobol misses with a takedown attempt - Reynolds sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Reynolds looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Reynolds manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Reynolds is pressed up against the cage. Sobol has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Reynolds down to the mat. Reynolds avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Sobol stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sobol wants it to stay on the feet.
Sobol shoots in for a takedown but Reynolds shows good takedown defense.
Sobol is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Ray Reynolds showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Sobol throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Reynolds swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Sobol goes for a double leg but Reynolds avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Reynolds continues to drive forward.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Sobol wants to get back to striking at distance but Reynolds won't allow it.
Sobol takes a shot to the head.

Reynolds wants to sweep here but Sobol controlling him for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reynolds pulls Sobol in close to prevent any damage.

Reynolds working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sobol doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sobol manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Sobol is really struggling to control Reynolds but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

I wouldn't like to be where Reynolds is right now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sobol advances to mount.
Reynolds tries to lock up and control but Sobol gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Reynolds is in a horrible position here. Sobol smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Reynolds has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Ray Reynolds is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Reynolds wants to control but Sobol is having none of it.

I think Reynolds has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
