Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Fausto Rivas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke Bishop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Luke Bishop acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fausto Rivas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Luke Bishop!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Russell Pearce and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bishop manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Rivas on his heels. He'll look to pass Rivas's guard now, I'm sure.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bishop trying to stand up but can't free himself from Rivas's guard.
Bishop postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Bishop thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Bishop trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bishop working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Rivas is trying to keep Bishop in close.

Rivas could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Bishop shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bishop showed some decent athleticism there.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bishop in particular looking to stall.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Bishop wants to work for an arm triangle but Rivas is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Rivas might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Rivas would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Luke Bishop is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Bishop bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Bishop wants to stand but Rivas has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.

Bishop throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rivas works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bishop wants to stand but Rivas is controlling his arm.
The referee asks Bishop politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Bishop prefers to stall for the moment though.

Bishop manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rivas manages to get himself to full guard.

Bishop has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Rivas is looking to stand up but Bishop isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Luke Bishop comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bishop has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
