The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bly Jimmo throws a big counter combination but Smith scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Bly Jimmo fails with an attempt to clinch.
Smith let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Smith misses with a jab, cross combination.
Smith lands with an uppercut that bounces Bly Jimmo off the cage and back into range.
Smith connects with a solid leg kick.
Bly Jimmo tries to clinch but Smith moves out of range.

Smith tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Bly Jimmo is able to avoid easily.
Smith throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Smith connects with a good right hand that stumbles Bly Jimmo. Bly Jimmo circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Bly Jimmo swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Smith swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Smith tries a low kick but Bly Jimmo avoids it.
Smith lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bly Jimmo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Bly Jimmo missing with a left hand there. Smith was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Bly Jimmo is looking to clinch but Smith is avoiding it.
Smith keeps the fight on the outside.
Smith defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bly Jimmo.

Smith scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Bly Jimmo doesn't seem bothered though.
Smith's corner calls for a 1-2. Smith obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Smith works over Bly Jimmo's head and body with a nice combination.
Smith keeps the fight on the outside.
Bly Jimmo shoots in looking for a takedown but Smith manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bly Jimmo's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ruan Bly Jimmo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Smith throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Bly Jimmo's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Smith dives in looking to finish as Bly Jimmo flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Smith's strikes! Smith is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Bly Jimmo's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Bly Jimmo was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
