PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kenny Brandon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Theron Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brandon comes to the cage accompanied by Catch Em By Surprise. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kenny Brandon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Theron Harris!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Paul Gruel and Colin Fray.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Harris gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Brandon has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Brandon is trying to break the clinch but Harris has him pressed against the cage.
Harris is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Brandon is defending well.
A short body shot lands from Brandon as the two fighters clinch.
Nice body punch from Brandon - that landed with a thud.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Harris has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Harris tightens his grip and picks Brandon up, before dumping him to the ground. Brandon manages to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brandon pulls Harris in close to his closed guard and prevents Harris from doing any damage or advancing position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Harris is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Harris is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Harris won't allow Brandon to sweep him here.
Brandon has control of Harris's left arm, preventing Harris from doing any damage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Brandon throws a shot from downtown. Harris moves away and avoids it.
Brandon circles away from the clinch attempt.

and Brandon holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Harris is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Brandon misses with a hook to the ribs.
Brandon lands with a left to the head.
Brandon struggles to land a body shot inside as Harris controls his hands.
Nice body punch from Brandon - that landed with a thud.
Brandon misses with a body punch.

Harris escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Harris displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Brandon throws out the jab.
Brandon throws a right and a left that Harris avoids nicely.
Brandon misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Harris steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Brandon.
Harris fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Brandon avoids it really well and circles away.
Kenny Brandon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Theron Harris.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Brandon connects with a right hand. Harris shakes it off.
Brandon lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Harris circles away quickly and effectively.
Harris fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Brandon avoids it really well and circles away.
Harris fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Brandon shoots in and bounces Harris off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Brandon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Brandon with a flurry of punches that miss.
Brandon wants to control from the top but Harris keeps moving.

Brandon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Harris has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Brandon has managed to get both his arms back between Harris's legs - danger averted.
Brandon stands and throws Harris's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Harris throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Brandon wants to control but Harris is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brandon throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Despite the aggression on Harris's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Brandon moves into the clinch successfully.
Harris blocks an uppercut.
Harris managing to block the knees to the body from Brandon.
Brandon tries to work over Harris's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Harris keeps control of Brandon as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Harris manages to break the clinch.
Brandon tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Harris defends well and Brandon ends up having to push Harris into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Harris is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Harris on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Brandon looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Brandon seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Brandon seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Harris does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Brandon thows an elbow strike that misses. Harris gets hold of full guard and has managed to get a loose guillotine attempt. Brandon doesn't seem too bothered but Harris quickly shifts his position and has tightened the hold! Brandon is in big trouble now - he's going a funny colour - he's tapping out! Nice finish there! Brandon really should have spotted the danger earlier though... either incompetence or over-confidence has resulted in a big L on his record.
