The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez moves out of range as Valavicius throws a body kick.

Rodriguez manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Valavicius on his heels. He'll look to pass Valavicius's guard now, I'm sure.
Rodriguez is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Valavicius wants to stand but Rodriguez is controlling the position.
Rodriguez is working Valavicius over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Rodriguez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Rodriguez drops back looking for a leg! Valavicius is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Valavicius manages to kick Rodriguez off! Rodriguez jumps back into Valavicius's guard.

Valavicius really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rodriguez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
