The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James goes for a double leg but Thompson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Thompson continues to drive forward.
It looked like Thompson wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Thompson stuffs the takedown attempt from James. James gets slowly back to his feet.
James misses with a jab to the body
and Thompson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

As James looks to move away, Thompson throws a big counter combo bu James just gets out of the way.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from James is defended easily by Thompson.
We've been told by Thompson's head coaches at X Training Academy that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

and Thompson counters with a nice right hand that sends James toppling to the canvas! James scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Thompson finish him?!
