PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Devin Styles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Corll (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Styles comes to the cage accompanied by Wrecking Ball. Corll has chosen South Texas Death Ride as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Devin Styles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Dean Corll!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Styles cracks Corll with a right hand to the side of the head.
Styles misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Corll throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Styles tries to counter with a takedown but Corll is quick to defend against it.
Corll jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Corll looking to score a takedown here. Styles is defending well but Corll drives through and ends up in Styles's guard.
Corll trying to control the position from guard on top but Styles is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Corll controls from within his opponent's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Corll postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Corll wants to control from the top but Styles keeps moving.

Styles is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A big right from Styles misses.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Corll has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Corll connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Corll avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Styles lands a right hook to the body.
Corll ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Styles moves away.
Corll thuds his shin into the meat of Styles's side.
Styles looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Styles blocks a leg kick.
Corll swings for the body but Styles moves out of range.
Corll drops his hands momentarily and Styles takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Corll throws a leg kick which misses Styles's front leg but catches the back leg as Styles tries to avoid it.
Styles moves out of range as Corll strikes.
Corll throws a sloppy head kick and Styles moves out of range easily.
Corll throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Corll takes a kick to the side of the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Corll throws a looping overhand right but Styles ducks down to avoid it.
Styles looks to land a left hand but Corll moved out of range nicely.
Corll walks into a straight right hand from Styles.
Styles misses with an attempted mid kick.
Styles throws a hook to the side of Corll's head but Corll sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Styles catches Corll with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Styles takes a swing at Corll's ribcage but misses.
Corll plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Styles blocks a head kick by Corll.
Corll is looking to score with low kicks.
Styles jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Corll lands a nice looking body kick.
Styles slips a straight right by Corll.

Styles lands a big uppercut and Corll crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Corll looks OK. Styles waves Corll back to his feet!


Corll is rocked!
Styles misses with a looping left.
Corll is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Styles tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Corll was well out of range. Poor timing from Styles.
A little jabbing left from Corll on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Styles shoots in but Corll avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Corll feints a counter leg kick.
Corll throws a body shot but no joy.
Styles throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Corll stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Corll throws a jab when Styles was well out of range.
Styles takes a head kick and keeps coming.


It looks like Devin Styles has been cut.
Corll slips a straight right by Styles.
Corll keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Corll uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Styles.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Styles closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Corll's guard.
Corll wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Corll has Styles pulled in close to control his posture.
Corll is trying to control the position but Styles postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Styles throws a big elbow that misses.
Styles working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Corll's head.
Styles landing some decent shots from guard.
Corll seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Devin Styles's cut.
That's time! Styles's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Styles dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Styles throws a sloppy head kick and Corll moves out of range easily.
Styles throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
A telegraphed right hand from Corll misses the target.
Styles throws a jab when Corll was well out of range.

Oooooh!!! Styles has knocked Corll down with a huge combo! Styles steps away and waves a wobbly Corll back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Corll is still on wobbly legs! Can Styles finish him?


It looks like Dean Corll has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Corll is aggressively charging in as Styles backs up avoiding any damage. Styles tosses out a jab and Corll runs right into it face first! Corll is out cold! Styles dropped down on all fours and is barking in Corll's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Devin Styles!
Devin Styles gave a mention to Conquer in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
