Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stones Mahones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gogo Munjiza!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, John Roberts and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Munjiza on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Munjiza with a poor takedown
letting Mahones counter with a right hand.
Munjiza moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Mahones definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Mahones scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Munjiza rushes Mahones and presses him up against the cage.
Mahones working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Mahones presses Munjiza against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Munjiza misses with some punches.
Mahones tries to circle away but Munjiza has him pinned against the cage.
Mahones lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Munjiza or not.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mahones creates some distance for himself and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Munjiza's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Munjiza drops to his knees and Mahones pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Stones Mahones!
After the fight, Stones Mahones was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
