PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Quaid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zell Griever (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quaid comes into the arena with Total Recall blaring out of the sound system. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Zell Griever!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Richard Clark and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Quaid lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.


It looks like Zell Griever has been cut.
Douglas Quaid seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Griever staying out of range there.
Griever steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Quaid.
Quaid tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Griever paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Quaid has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Team Tukkapölly in the buildup to the fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Quaid takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Griever rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Quaid moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Griever stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Griever stuffs the takedown.
Griever throws a head kick but Quaid moves out of range.
Quaid tests Griever's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Griever tried to score with a low kick but Quaid checks it.
Quaid ducks under a wild hook from Griever.
Griever fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Quaid on the side of the head.
Quaid swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Griever drops his hands momentarily and Quaid takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Quaid tries to bum rush Griever with a series of wild strikes but Griever uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Quaid shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Griever but Griever pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Quaid's jab looks to have found its range, popping Griever under the eye.

and Griever counters with a solid body kick.

Griever cracks Quaid with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Griever has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Quaid to stand back up!

Griever throws an overhand right that drops Quaid like a sack of potatoes! Griever dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!
