Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Pitt Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mike Jackson will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Pitt Steel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Jackson!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Steven Brown and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slow jab from Steel misses its intended target.
Steel takes a swing at Jackson's ribcage but misses.
Jackson sizes up Steel with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Good exchange - Steel coming out on top.


It looks like Mike Jackson has been cut.
Jackson throws a right hand that Steel ducks under and follows up with a left that Steel also avoids with ease.
Steel fires out a quick counter leg kick but Jackson just manages to avoid it.
Jackson misses with a few strikes there.
Jackson throws a one two combo.
Jackson lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Steel goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Jackson! But no joy.
Steel throws a body shot but no joy.
It seemed like Jackson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Steel shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jackson is trying to defend but Steel finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Steel takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Jackson is trying to maintain the position but Steel is very close to passing his half guard.
Jackson felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Steel is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Steel is pressing down on Jackson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jackson is holding on for now.
Steel could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Steel is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Steel winds up and cracks Jackson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Steel is taking a breather. Jackson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Steel is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Steel is looking to work some ground and pound but Jackson has wrist control.
Steel might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jackson is trying to control the position but Steel postures up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Steel slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Steel is working Jackson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Steel is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Steel. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Jackson takes a swing at Steel's ribcage but misses.
Jackson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Jackson slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Steel looks to land a body kick but Jackson moved away.
Steel throws a jab when Jackson was well out of range.
Steel is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jackson can do to turn this around?
No joy there for Jackson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Steel is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Jackson's half guard.

You can see the frustration on Jackson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Jackson bucks up and tries to throw Steel off but instead Steel has got his back!
Steel is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Steel is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Steel gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Steel gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Steel apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Jackson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Steel swats away the attempt to clinch by Jackson.
Steel appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

Steel looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Steel misses with a hook. Jackson ducked under it nicely.

Pitt Steel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Steel shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jackson's guard.

Jackson lands a slapping body shot.
Steel is looking to land body kicks.
Jackson throws a hook to the side of Steel's head but Steel sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Jackson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Steel.
Jackson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Steel backs up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Steel throws a nice inside leg kick.
Jackson lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Jackson.

and Jackson counters with a straight right hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Steel looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Pitt Steel is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Steel seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jackson for as long as he can get away with.
Mike Jackson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Steel continues to stall.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Steel, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
