Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Marcos Rojas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Muslam Makhaechev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marcos Rojas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Muslam Makhaechev!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Aleksandr Martynov and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Makhaechev bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Makhaechev scores with punches from side control.
The strikes coming from Makhaechev are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Rojas seems a little lost for a moment, as Makhaechev dominates the positioning.
Makhaechev tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Makhaechev controls the position from side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Makhaechev in side control lands a decent elbow.
Makhaechev has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Makhaechev content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Rojas wants to control but Makhaechev postures up.

Rojas is trying to improve his position.
Makhaechev is working Rojas over with some ground and pound from side control.
A lull in the action here.
Makhaechev cracks Rojas with a big right hand but Rojas just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Makhaechev just content to control the position.

Makhaechev connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Rojas some visible discomfort.

Makhaechev swings around for an armbar but Rojas sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Makhaechev's guard.

Makhaechev manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Rojas drives through and clinches with Makhaechev against the cage.

Rojas gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Makhaechev regains guard.

Makhaechev pushes Rojas off and gets back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Makhaechev closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rojas to the mat! Rojas manages to get full guard.
Makhaechev slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Muslam Makhaechev dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Makhaechev controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Makhaechev postures up in Rojas's guard and throws a big left but Rojas blocks it.

Makhaechev's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Makhaechev lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Makhaechev has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Makhaechev passes into half guard.
Rojas is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Let's hope that Makhaechev has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Makhaechev looking for a submission but Rojas manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.

Makhaechev landing with the ground and pound.
Makhaechev advances position into side control!
Makhaechev staying calm.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Makhaechev scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Rojas to see if he's OK.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Muslam Makhaechev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Makhaechev dives in and scores a takedown into Rojas's guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Makhaechev drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Rojas tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Makhaechev with a couple of short strikes.
Makhaechev looking to control and managing it successfully.
Rojas tries to lock up and control but Makhaechev gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Makhaechev in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Makhaechev is in the full mount, landing strikes.


Rojas is rocked!
Makhaechev takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Oh Rojas is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Makhaechev lands a nice shot to the head.
Makhaechev tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Makhaechev.

Makhaechev looking to secure an arm triangle but Rojas defends it well.
Makhaechev looking to control and managing it successfully.

Makhaechev is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Rojas is forced to tap! Great finish!
