The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smirnov looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Daugherty!

Daugherty bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Daugherty moves into the clinch successfully.
Daugherty is looking to take this one to the mat.
Daugherty is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Smirnov is defending well.
Daugherty really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Smirnov is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hung Daugherty. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Daugherty's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Daugherty has had enough of the clinch but Smirnov keeps him there for the moment.

Smirnov has Daugherty pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Smirnov pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Daugherty tumbling to the mat - Smirnov dives into Daugherty's guard.

Daugherty looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Daugherty is working an open guard so Smirnov takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Smirnov bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Oh Daugherty is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smirnov in side control, throwing shots but Daugherty defends.

Smirnov decides to stand back up. Smirnov steps back and let's Daugherty get back to his feet.

Smirnov closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Daugherty is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Smirnov can't fight it off and eventually Daugherty manages to take the fight to the floor. Smirnov looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Smirnov scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Daugherty is breathing heavily.

Smirnov dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Daugherty has had enough and taps out.
