Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lao Shin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tully Blanchard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shin's entrance music is Shaolin Chamber of Death. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Lao Shin!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tully Blanchard!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shin lands with a shot to the body.
Blanchard avoids the body shot from Shin.
A jab from Shin does it's job there.
Blanchard jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Nice defenses there by Blanchard.
A little jabbing left from Blanchard on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Shin looks to land a combination but Blanchard avoids it well.
Blanchard takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Shin misses with a looping right.
Shin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Lao Shin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shin throws a lazy uppercut
and Blanchard counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Shin forces Blanchard back against the cage and clinches.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Blanchard has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Shin regains guard immediately.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

It seemed like Blanchard was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Blanchard throws a hook to the side of Shin's head but Shin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Blanchard walks into a jab.

Blanchard throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Shin tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Blanchard is in Shin's guard.

It looks like Blanchard might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That was a close round but I would say that Lao Shin will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Shin scores with a hook to the body. Blanchard takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Shin throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Blanchard is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Shin.

Shin uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Blanchard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Tully Blanchard has got the better of the ground game so far.

Shin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Blanchard is aware though and is defending well.

Shin pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Shin swings away with a body shot that misses
enabling Blanchard to counter with a crisp jab.

Shin attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Shin gets caught flat footed, as Blanchard shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Shin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shin isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Blanchard stacks Shin on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Blanchard!

Blanchard wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shin keeps working.

Shin tries to close the distance and clinch but Blanchard swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Shin seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

That was a close round but Lao Shin did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.

Blanchard looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Shin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Blanchard manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Blanchard might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
