Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Steven Oliver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Ashcraft (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steven Oliver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anthony Ashcraft!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Oliver gets tackled into the cage by Ashcraft. Ashcraft maintains the clinch.

Ashcraft turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Ashcraft manages to end up in side control.
Oliver is looking for a sweep.
Ashcraft scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Oliver to see if he's OK.
Oliver is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Ashcraft is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Ashcraft connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Oliver tries to hold on but Ashcraft postures up.
Oliver is desperately trying to improve his position but Ashcraft has a good base and remains in mount.
Ashcraft takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Ashcraft goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Oliver is on top in guard.

Ashcraft looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Oliver passes into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ashcraft is trying to control Oliver's posture but Oliver avoids it.

Oliver wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ashcraft, who protects the arm well.
Ashcraft tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ashcraft tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Oliver punching from mount but Ashcraft doing a good job of avoiding damage.

Oliver is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ashcraft to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ashcraft shrugs it off.
Ashcraft is looking to improve his position but Oliver isn't that keen on the idea.
Oliver unloads with some shots from mount but Ashcraft bucks and avoids them well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Oliver is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Ashcraft can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Ashcraft is in all sorts of trouble here.
Ashcraft is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Poor strikes thrown by Oliver there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Ashcraft is trying desperately to improve position.

Oliver looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ashcraft can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ashcraft reaches up to try and control the position but Oliver seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Ashcraft rolls and tries to escape and now Oliver has his back!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Oliver patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Ashcraft turns into Oliver and is now in his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Anthony Ashcraft will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Ashcraft clinches up with Oliver and pushes him back against the cage.

Ashcraft has picked Oliver up - he's going for a ride! Ashcraft dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Ashcraft content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Oliver looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Well, if Ashcraft is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ashcraft trying to work for an americana but Oliver has managed to regain full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ashcraft passes Oliver's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Ashcraft looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Ashcraft drops an elbow to the side of Oliver's head.
Ashcraft slows the pace down in half guard.
Ashcraft has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ashcraft has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Oliver regains half guard.

Oliver tries to roll over but Ashcraft keeps him under control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Oliver regains full guard. Nicely done.

Oliver had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ashcraft defends it easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ashcraft wants to pass the guard but Oliver is keeping the position.

Anthony Ashcraft showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



Ashcraft drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Oliver explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Oliver tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ashcraft swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Oliver leaves Ashcraft with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Oliver is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Oliver tries to clinch but Ashcraft moves out of range.

Oliver clinches up with Ashcraft and pushes him back against the cage.

Ashcraft pulls guard successfully.

Ashcraft pulls Oliver in close to prevent any damage.
Ashcraft wants to stand and escape but Oliver is having none of it.
Ashcraft working a defensive guard but Oliver manages to pass into side control anyway.
Ashcraft is trying to control Oliver's posture but Oliver avoids it.

Oliver tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Oliver has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Ashcraft struggling a bit here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Oliver tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Ashcraft wants to get back to his feet but Oliver drags him back down.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Ashcraft shoots in and drives through. Oliver sprawls well.

Ashcraft looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Ashcraft takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Oliver escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ashcraft gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Oliver looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Oliver looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ashcraft is one step ahead there.

Oliver is looking for a triangle but Ashcraft pushes his legs off easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ashcraft trying to stand up but can't free himself from Oliver's guard.
Ashcraft sitting in guard here, content to control.

Ashcraft got a little sloppy there for a moment and Oliver has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ashcraft has managed to get both his arms back between Oliver's legs - danger averted.
Ashcraft lands a couple of digs.
Ashcraft is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Steven Oliver showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Ashcraft has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
